Press Release: Marvel Marks 50th Anniversary of What If…? With Eight New Multiverse One-Shots
For five decades, Marvel Comics has asked the ultimate multiversal question: What If…? To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking series, Marvel will release eight brand-new What If…? one-shots this summer.
Crafted by some of today’s top creative talents, the anniversary specials will reimagine pivotal Marvel storylines and characters across the entire mythos. The new wave begins with bold alternate takes on the X-Men and Thor before expanding into radical reinterpretations of iconic arcs like Secret Wars and Kraven’s Last Hunt.
The celebration begins in June with WHAT IF…? UNCANNY X-MEN #1, where Gerry Duggan and Jan Bazaldua put a new spin on one of comics’ most tragic love stories. Joining it is WHAT IF…? THOR #1, as Torunn Grønbekk and Sergio Dávila take symbiote history in a surprising direction, forging an unexpected new destiny for the God of Thunder.
