“Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can…”

SPIDER-MAN (Insomniac Games/Sony – PS4 – 2017?) – THWIP!! Hey there GHG’ers, just your friendly neighborhood Cardinal here. With E3 a little over 2 weeks away, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty of what we will be expecting there. Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man will be both an original game and a tie-in to the summer Sony/Marvel Studios film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Vulture? Hmmm. The Sunset Overdrive/Rachet & Clank devs also promise that Spider-Man will toy around with the last few incarnations of ol’ Web-Head and, naturally, have ties to the Marvel Universe.

Now, the suit is an “almost” original suit as is evident by the gigantic white spider on his chest, but it will have the mechanical eyelets that Tom Holland will have in the upcoming Spidey flick. Although none of the previous Spidey games are on the level of Rocksteady’s Arkham games — nor had the pleasure of being developed by a respectful team like Insomniac — Marvel’s track record with Spidey games has been pretty good. Throw in the possible inclusion of VR, a fun and (hopefully) quite lengthy single-player campaign with some surprises (Miles and/or the Spider-Verse, pretty please?), a quality story and voicework, and this Spider-Man is destined to web together a great 2017.

The PlayStation E3 Media Showcase is set for 6 p.m. PT on Monday, June 12. You can catch all the action on Twich and the PlayStation Network.
