MEGA MAN 11 (Capcom – PS4, X1, Switch, PC – October 2) – Capcom has been pretty quiet in the weeks leading into E3.. until now! In celebrating 30-years of Mega Man (gawd, I’m old), the world famous publisher dropped a boatload of info on the Blue Bomber’s 11th adventure, releasing to all platforms. In leiu of more Dr. Wiley mischief Mega Man will return Double Gear‘d up, thanks to Dr. Light. The new prototype will expand our fav platforming circuit wonder’s abilities and powers, much needed with the arrival of new villains Block Man and Fuse Man. Bad names–badder bosses.
- Speed Gear – Introduces the ability to slow the flow of time, a useful tool for many situations such as navigating tricky platforming sections or avoiding fast-moving enemies or obstacles.
- Power Gear – Allows players to charge the Mega Buster to a new level, and weapon-based abilities become even more robust.
- Double Gear – When at critical health, Mega Man will gain access to a hidden ability to activate both gears simultaneously, unleashing maximum power and allowing for deft maneuvers in the direst situations.
While yours truly Moody’s never been a huge Mega Man fan in the past (maybe because I suck and rage-quit a game like Cuphead a little more than halfway through), Mega Man 11 promises to be the best, most accessible yet rewarding MM adventure yet. And taking all this Double Gear greatness on the go on the Switch? We can only hope the (now confirmed) hands-on gameplay at E3 is just as great as it sounds.
