MARVEL’S SPIDER-MAN (Insomniac Games/Sony Interactive Entertainment – PS4 – September 7) – It was back in 2016 when a brand new Spider-Man game was revealed at Sony’s E3 presser. Now, 2-years later, the the initial Insomniac (Rachet & Clank, Sunset Overdrive) hype has turned this into one of the most anticipated games of the year — a true console seller if there ever was one.

In the past month, fellow Spidey-Heads have discovered new game features, impactful side missions (hangin’ with Harry at Oscorp Industries and fun fetchquest Black Cat Stakeouts, just to name a few), watching Spider-Parker ride the subway for fast travel, won’t have as many QTEs as you’d assume, and, return to Aunt May’s crib damage-free from any falls.

Combat is said to be the most (web) fluid yet, and web-swinging is destined to be the best in a Spidey game since Spider-Man 2. Players can also have gadgets like the Web Trap from Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as a Spider Drone. You can also customize your own suit(!!), if the 3 pre-order bonuses revealed already ain’t enough for you: Spider Noir, Iron Spider (from Infinity War) and Spider-Punk.

Who going to E3 actually doesn’t want to play this game? After its absence from the floor at E3 2017, let’s hope Insomniac brings plenty of playable demos throughout the 3-day event. And give us that PS4 Pro Bundle too, Sony; we know Moody needs a PS4 like Mr. Negative needs a day at the beach. Let’s hope this will be the “Arkham” to Marvel’s gaming universe the comic book publisher so desperately needs (Avengers is next).
