After a near 3.5-month layoff, The Wild Brunch Podcast is back! That can only mean more bacon, more movies, more eggs, more movies, and more damn bacon.
Before our illustrious hosts, “Father” Joe Tower and “Vicar” Alex Gradet, move on to “Oscar season” with the likes of Black Mass, Sicario, Crimson Peak, The Hateful Eight, Spectre, and a little bitty thing they found at Tribeca called The Force Awakens, TWB must first say goodbye to the summer that was: Terminator Genisys, Mad Max: Fury Road, Jurassic World, etc.
How did the summer fair for our favorite french toast-eating film freaks? Only one way to find out!
This time around, we take a look not at one of the driving market forces in summer movies: Nostalgia. Especially its relationship to this summer, in the shape of spiky cars, spikier dinosaurs and not-spiky-and-just-generally-crap Terminators. Is nostalgia a good thing? Is it a bad thing? Is it sometimes one and then other times the other? Who knows? We do. Sort of. Eventually. Other topics get discussed too because let’s be serious, we like to talk about movies while eating brunch. It’s kind of our thing. Sort of right there in the title. Look, why are you still reading this? You could be listening already!
Thanks.
