LEGENDS
Moving on to Saturday, we’re leaving the land of supernatural and entering the world of super agents with TNT’s latest summer series, Legends. In attendance for the panel were Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones), Ali Larter (Heroes), Tina Majorino (Veronica Mars), Morris Chestnut (Boyz N Tha Hood) and Exec. Producer David Wilcox (Homeland).
Developed for TV by 24‘s Howard Gordon and based on the 2005 book “Legends” by Robert Littell, the show stars Bean as deep-cover FBI agent Martin Odum — a man with the uncanny ability to transform himself into completely different people and assume new personas — called “legends” — for each job. However, Martin begins to question his own identity through the voice of a mysterious source. Got that?
“This is certainly something I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into… just discovering these conflicts and personalities and how they clash and the psychological damage that creates (for Martin) the character I think I am,” Bean stated. Because he got tired of all the sword and sorcery stuff? Or maybe he just likes the idea of playing multiple personalities in every episode.
Larter plays one of the agents that is part of the FBI team. Does this mean she full of five personalities, as well? “You’re not just going to look at these agents and see them in the field; you’re going to see the moment before, you’re going to see where they crack.” Even with that said, expect plenty of fireworks between the two. “My relationship with Martin Odom is that Crystal likes to follow the rules, [while] Martin is a bit more of a renegade..” Coming off a character that already had MPD, it’s good to know she’ll be the one playing off of that — despite we know she’s good at it! Speaking of which, I’m thinking Larter doing this show means that it’s not likely she’ll appear in the forthcoming Heroes reboot. We can still hope.
And apparently, Majorino’s character is a tech expert. You know what’s next! Panel moderator: “Tina, how does this character compare to your character on Veronica Mars?” What a surprise!
“It’s funny to me because of the tech savvy thing because I’m not, “ Majorino replies with a long sigh. Yeah you know why? Stop asking the girl about a character she played 10 years ago! She just got done promoting Veronica Mars for the last six months. “Even though we’re two weeks in I don’t know where she’s going. The idea is to start out playing one person and end up in a completely different place. Maggie for me is a grownup. She’s lived a different life than Mac has. There is a difference in the maturity. They’re two completely different people.” Well said. Move the fuck on, people.
