ROBOT CHICKEN (Friday – Indigo Ballroom) – It’s your boy, The Belser here, with my first ever time covering the official Comic-Con for GodHatesGeeks. Sorry my stay was so short, geeks, but I’m in high-demand down in San Diego — what can I say? Next year, Monsignor, save me a plate. For now, my first of my two Adult Swim-related panels consisted of many of the show’s actors, writers and producers. In the house were writer/actor Breckin Meyer, co-creator Stephen Root, producer Tom Goldstein and special surprise Donald Faison — who apparently worked as an intern in their stop-motion department for free.
The most notable absentee of this panel was clearly Seth Green, who was off in Asia filming a movie. And GHG is mad at they boy? The good news–besides my ability to cover this hour–Meyer took the time to FaceTime Seth to show some love to the audience. One of the many panel highlights of the panel is a clip shown that consists of many of the skits for Season 9. The most notable news coming out of Robot Chicken is the announcement for a Walking Dead Special with the cast, who appeared very exuberant that it was frequently mentioned (Morgan is Negan; they spoof Talking Dead; and Rick is even more-so off his ringer, unicorn style). Above all, Meyer stood out; he was hilarious, charming and really stole the show — despite Faison had his moments despite appearing employed (and intoxicated) from plenty of margaritas. 4/5 Bibles.
MIKE TYSON MYSTERIES (Friday – Indigo Ballroom) – And… this was a Comic-Con disappointment. While Iron Mike was indeed in San Diego, and indeed in the building, he was unable to make it to the panel. For unknown reasons. Did his pigeon fly the coop? Did he take on a challenge from Conor McGregor in Hall H? As a result of this.. mystery.. the staff showed off some unaired episodes of the Mike Tyson Mysteries in addition to a brief Q&A with writer Hugh Davidson and actress Rachel Ramras who was the voice of Yung Hee. Yeah. 1/5 Bibles.
