E3ODUS [E3 2017 Preview]: Sea of Thieves.

T-minus one week until the E3 chaos begins! While I’m sure you’re all dying for it to start, we’re providing you with a constant influx of previews to secure the hype. So without further ado, here’s another one…

SEA OF THIEVES (Rare/Microsoft Studios – Xbox One, Scorpio, and Windows 10 – TBD 2017) – As it seems with most Xbox exclusives these days, gamers first got their glimpse of this pirate adventure from Rare over two years ago. This upcoming multiplayer adventure game gives us the opportunity to become a pirate legend, and set sail across a vast open sea. At its core, Sea of Thieves is S.W.A.G. (a “shared world adventure game”). Developers have placed a focus on crew co-operation; allowing players to be whatever kind of pirate they wish to be. Hunt for buried treasure, destroy rival crews, or explore the open sea–the choice is yours.

And what would a pirate story be like without barrels of rum? Drinking can affect your stumble, which should make this already shiver-me-shitshow an even nuttier one. Weather will have a drastic effect on your ship’s course, but thankfully SoT‘s in-depth customization can make your ride that much sturdier — for a shiny gold nickel or two. And just a week ago, Rare posted a video discussing the game’s live campaigns and how they’ll work within the game. The live campaigns are said to include things such as social, community, and seasonal events, which you can peep just above.
