Marvel Comics, throughout the day, released covers and titles of their upcoming books in anticipation of their relaunch. The theme and title of their new initiative is Legacy, with some titles getting renumbered to match their long history. Marvel released animated covers that morph from a classic image to the homage cover of the new title. Big changes are teased for many characters within these covers. The end of Jane Foster’s reign as Thor is implied as well as Sam Wilson becoming Falcon once again.
Some other big shake-ups seem in store for the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Will Spider-Man be behind bars? Is there going to be a Fantastic Two instead of Four, with the Thing and the Human Torch in the revived Marvel Two-In-One? Who is the Spiderling on the cover of Amazing Spider-Man? Iceman seems to be the head of a new Champions team. Old Man Logan gets back to his roots. The Purple Man is back to terrorize Jessica Jones. There’s a new Moon Knight series and is that…an Iron Punisher?
A 50-page one-shot by writer Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic is going to set up Legacy. None of the creative teams have been announced yet for the books. We’re likely to get those announcements next month during San Diego Comic-Con! – Keith Justin Dooley
