MASKED REPUBLIC LUCHAVERSE [News]: Cero Miedo!

Chido Comics, the indie studio behind Joey Ryan: Big in Japan and the Lucha Underground comics, announced a partnership with lucha libre licensing and production company Masked Republic this week. The pair are teaming to create Masked Republic Luchaverse, a series of one-shots starring some of the most famous names in lucha that take place in a shared universe. The Lucha Brothers are slated to appear alongside legends Blue Demon Jr., Konnan, Rey Mysterio and Los Cadetes del Espacio.

The series will be cowritten by Marco Lopez (Puerto Rico Strong) and Chido founder Ivan Plaza and will follow the luchadores as they face “a dormant and mysterious power.” Artists featured on the project will be Diego Simone, Javier Martin Caba, Ben Harvey and Bryan Magnaye.

Masked Republic Luchaverse: Rey Mysterio will be unveiled at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with an appearance by the man himself. Blue Demon Jr. and Lucha Brothers will follow later this year with Konnan and Los Cadetes del Espacio expected to be released in late 2018/early 2019.
