NXT TAKEOVER – CHICAGO [Sean & Shawn Show]: Best In The World??

Shawn: Say it ain’t so Sean… This is the last Sean & Shawn Show for a little while. What am I gonna do now? Alright, I won’t dwell on it. We’ve got business to handle. It’s TakeOver time and you know what that means…

Sean: I’m tellin’ ya – find a fella named Shaun and you’ll be golden ! Let’s dive into the best show of the weekend (again) ! The thing I love about NXT shows is the booking can go either way with every match and I’d be great. No true forgone conclusions. It’s how it should be.

NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Undisputed Era (c) v Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan

Shawn: I love the Undisputed Era. Shock the system. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch… not so much. Oney just doesn’t look like a wrestler to me. I mean, is it me, or does he have the build of Ellsworth and the charisma and look of Gillberg? I’m pretty sure I could beat him. I guess this has been an interesting feud, but I just can’t get behind Oney… and who’s naming these guys anyway?? From Biff Busick to Oney Lorcan?? Undisputed Era had better walk out of Chicago with the straps.

Sean: Im a huge fan of Oney and Danny. Terrible names, sure – but I dig the smashmouth style. I was a fan of reDRagon but this isn’t them. This is TUE mishmash with Roddy and Kyle. They’re the too cool for school heels that never get over with me. Bullies are never fun. But man alive can all four of these guys go ! I think it’s way too soon for a title change , but I’m expecting some sort of shenanigans because the TUE rarely win clean.

NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Shayna Baszler (c) v Nikki Cross

Shawn: Am I the only one that finds Nikki Cross strangely hot? Nevermind. I dig crazy chicks. Shayna has been horrible on the mic. Trips needs to give her a mouthpiece already. This one is going to get a little crazy. Shayna has been running through the roster and I think it’s going to be more of the same here, unfortunately. Hopefully it gets us Nikki joining the rest of SAnity on the main roster, since they haven’t even been used yet.

Sean: Here, I think that mouthpiece is what makes her look like Baron’s sister. I’ve liked Baszler’s pretaped promos better than her live mic work. Nikki ? Man alive I love her. You can watch your tapes, do you drills, take your vitamins and say your prayers – ya just can’t prepare for crazy. This could go either way. I want Nikki to get the belt. Put Shayna on the hunt.

Ricochet v Velveteen Dream

Sean: Oh, here we go! As someone who waited with baited breath for “King Puma” to get out from under his Lucha deal – now he’s here in NXT with his first solo program with the rising star Velveteen. Slow and methodical vs super fast matches are a push and pull. Who’s going to get control of the match ? Will Dream speed it up or will he make Ricochet slow it down to keep his pace ? Pacing is the key here. I hope this is the beginning of something for them here. I see Dream getting the win.

Shawn: Baited breath? So that’s what that smell is. Anyway, THIS is gonna be a happening, as the late, great Gorilla Monsoon would say. These two are going to blow the roof off of the All-State Arena. I’m psyched to have Ricochet in NXT, but the Dream is the diamond in the rough here. Everyone knows it. He’s the next big thing around these parts. Ricochet isn’t a bottom feeder, himself. These two are going to put on one hell of a match and steal the entire weekend, in my opinion. At the end of the day, the Velveteen One’s hand will be raised in victory, but Ricochet will have earned his respect as well as the respect of the WWE Universe.

CHICAGO STREET FIGHT
Johnny Gargano v Tommaso Ciampa

Sean: The best feud in all of North American Professional Sports Entertainment Rasslin’ Today. These two are going to kill each other. I don’t want any nonsense. I don’t want rest holds. I don’t want Candice to turn on Johnny. I want Tommaso and Gargano to steal the show. Who wins ? We do. All of us. You’re welcome.

Shawn: Is everybody else watching? My brother from another mother is correct here. THIS is the feud of the year, without a question. These two have just been bringing the heat week in and week out. This one is going to be no different than anything we’ve seen from them. Last time they put on a five star unsanctioned match. Now they’re going to do it again under Chicago Street Fight rules. If it wasn’t for the Dream v the One, this would be the fight of the night. (Sorry Sean.) In other words, I expect this one to be a slobber-knocker. Does it really matter who wins here? Seriously? Just sit back and enjoy the probable ending to the feud of the year.

NXT CHAMPIONSHIP
Aleister Black (c) v Lars Sullivan

Sean: Ah yeah ! My Dude v My Other Dude ! This is a big test for Lars – his biggest match to date while Aleister’s biggest match against his biggest opponent ! I love the physical dynamics at play here. The most devastating move going up against the moving devastation. Smart and calculating against brute strength and determination. This is going to be one hell of a fight. Is it time for Lars to get the belt, or does he like all others before him – fade to black ? As Taz would say “beat me if you can – survive if I let you” – I think Black will come out on top, but he’s going to be in rough shape come Sunday morning.

Hey gang , as Shawn said at the top – this will be the last S&S Show for a bit. I’m moving 7 states away and setting up shop in the land of Sunshine and bath salts ! That’s right ! Mrs. Farrell’s baby boy is coming back to Sunny Florida ! Going to take me a hot minute to get set up and moving forward once I get there , so this is my sign off for all my brothers and sisters from other misters here at GHG. So long, and thanks for all the fish !

Shawn: Jeez. You sure know how to make a brother tear up. … Strong shots. No chaser. … anyway, this is it. Black versus Sullivan. I don’t know that it’s time to put the belt on Lars yet. I don’t think we’ve seen enough from Aleister yet. I think he’s yet to cement himself as a solid champion on the yellow brand because he hasn’t had that challenger that made him stand out.

Lars is that challenger. This one is going to be a fight. Lars isn’t only a big body, he’s got the brains to go with the brawn. There is no question he’s a future champion in NXT. I just don’t see it being this weekend. Well Sean, it’s been fun and I’m sure we’ll do it again in the future. Until then, I’ll keep a few on ice for ya. Unless it becomes the Shawn and Steve Austin Show, of course.
