TOMB RAIDER [X1/PS4 Review]: Exploring the ‘Definitive’ Realm of Next-Gen.

RAIDING, MOS DEF

But can we talk about something right now! Do you have Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition in your Xbox One library? Because I think you need to. When Tomb Raider on Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 launched “so very long ago” in 2013, the Monsignor did a review on it, singing its praises with 4.25 out of 5 Bibles (read here), which consequently landed the title on his Top 5 Games of the Year.

“So, this.. is where they keep all the PS4’s…”

Truth be told, there is no difference in the story. The achievements are the same, which kills me but hey; at least I know how to find everything since I went for 100% on the original. However, the graphics are beyond beautiful. Lara’s hair is brought to a startling realism with the use of TressFX, and the environments are completely breathtaking. For a story this immersive with graphics on steroids, facing the danger of Yamatai again to experience a second go-around of this phenomenal action/adventure game is a chance I’m more than willing to take. Besides, do you really, truly need a reason other than sexy, awesome brunettes with bangs to buy this game?

Absolutely not.

As you can see just below, the added “umph” of next-gen earned Tomb Raider: D.E. a little extra in score for improving on what seemingly couldn’t be much better. Hallelujah, Lara. Now go chart your next adventure, cause this girl can’t wait to explore some more tombs.

4.5 (out of 5) Bibles.

With that being said, I’m curious on everyone else’s thoughts on the Xbox One and the Tomb Raider remake. Did you play it yet? What were your favorite games of launch? Let me know, and let’s play some multiplayer! Your favorite geeky girl is off to draw and play Pokemon X (major props to my kickass boyfriend for getting me a shiny Fennekin– thanks babe!).
