—IV. United States Title Match—
Sheamus vs. Antonio Cesaro
Many think this match will steal the show. It has that potential and these two have the in ring ability. This Moses doesn’t want to “lead his people”. No, I want to see these guys kill each other. Just lay into each other. Both guys have it in them. While Sheamus can be physical, Antonio Cesaro needs to match him and set the tone. I’d like to see them trying to out do each other throughout the match. No frills. Just hard hitting stuff from two solid workers.
In looking at the history, winning the US title does not guarantee growth. Unless you’re Lex Luger.
And who wouldn’t like to see the US strap — much like the Intercontinental title — actually mean something? The only angle I could find between these two behemoths was that this past RAW may have hinted at a potential concussion, or some sort of ambiguous injury with Sheamus. In reality (because we are in the “Reality Era” after all), this guy really needs a character update or change. The happy go lucky Irishman that likes to fight needs an injection of life. He can be a bad-ass in the ring. Make him a bad ass outside of it. Why does he have to be so damn affable?
Winner: Cesaro with a Neutralizer and hopefully not a German Suplex. Sheamus prepares for a Brogue Kick and gets dizzy from his concussion-like symptoms.
—V. Divas Title Match—
Paige vs. Alicia Fox
Got to love the new push. Alicia Fox is as good as it gets as a worker in the Divas division. She’s got some momentum, but I still see Paige winning this one despite losing to her in her home country last week. The women’s division can certainly use a boost, and this is definitely their chance to bring some credibility to, well, all that hype of Total Divas.
The biggest question here is: Will the match go longer than 5 for a change?
Winner: Paige via Scorpion Cross Lock.
WWE Payback is live on Pay-Per-View this Sunday at 8pm ET/5pm PT. Or more brilliantly, the WWE Network. Get it, kids.
