TOM CLANCY’S SPLINTER CELL (Ubisoft Montreal – PS4, X1, PC – TBA) – Look. I know we’ve been through this for, like, 2-years plus now. Will we or won’t we see the next Splinter Cell at E3? Will Ubisoft finally take the Fisher Plunge and bring back Sam? Well, seeing how Ubisoft has 2 “mystery” games lined up at their booth for the press — and maybe everyone else? — to eat up at E3 in a couple of weeks, GHG is taking the educated guess on this one…
Ubisoft has hinted at a new Cell for a few years now, but the recent Ghost Recon: Wildlands event happened and we had a Splinter Cell crossover, voiced by the impeccable — the one, true Sam Fisher — Michael Ironside. Sure, it was timed and sure it was a few cutscenes, but it set the stage, and got a lot of SC fans’ hearts racing for a full-on, now-gen Splinter Cell game. I know you are saying that’s not really convincing. Well, how about this…
This was for a press junket with Inside Xbox hosted by Major Nelson and Laura Crowley. Ironside also did this interview with UbiBlog.
So, Michael walked away from the role of Sam Fisher — a character he helped create, because of health issues. He’s back now (he also said as much) and I think Ubisoft is bringing back “The Franchise” (think Shane Douglas, you freaking marks). The setting, timeline, and whether the new game will be linked to the ending of Blacklist is unknown, but GAWD DAMN STAHP THA DAMN MATCH!
